Rosemont Copper Company plans to develop one of the most progressive and efficient metal-producing operations in the world right here in Southern Arizona.
The project's future is bright. Copper demand worldwide will increase steadily in years to come and Rosemont is designed for the long term. Copper is an integral component in modern technologies for industry and consumers. Solar and other products ranging from computers to hybrid vehicles rely on copper.
Today, more than ever, an economic engine like a Rosemont Copper, offering 500 well paying jobs, is important to the local economy. Rosemont Copper will bring more than 290 million dollars in wages and services to Tucson and Pima County and another 200 million dollars statewide.
Rosemont continues to make key investments in this community, from equipment to water. We have placed $17 million in equipment deposits and have already recharged 35 thousand acre feet of water. We anticipate recharging another 15 thousand acre feet by the end of 2009.
New technologies at Rosemont will be significant. What makes the project unique is that while all of its technologies are proven in locations around the world, they have never been combined in a single operation to create an international model of environmental responsibility.
Rosemont Copper is working with the U.S. Forest Service, the Arizona State Mining Inspector, the State Land Department and the U.S. Bureau of Land Management on five separate financial assurances required for reclamation and stabilization.
Rosemont Copper's experienced team has developed an open, transparent and world-class approach to creating a sustainable and responsible mineral extraction operation. We will remain prudent and consistent as we recognize the significant social and economic importance of this project to Tucson, Pima County and Arizona. .
